alpha arms apartments

The 1970s was a time when affordable housing was a need in our communities, as it allowed families to live, grow, and create homes for themselves and their children. Recognizing this need, in 1972, Brother and Charter member Earl Whitted Jr. introduced the idea of an acquisition to be made by the chapter of a 104-unit apartment complex that, at the time, was available. As the concept transitioned into action and eventually to reality, the complex was rebranded and given the name Alpha Arms. It would serve as a flagship community initiative with a mission of providing affordable housing to the residents of the city of Goldsboro.

Today, affordable housing remains a vital community topic, and Theta Omicron Lambda, with its mission intact, continues to own and operate the Alpha Arms Apartment Complex. This effort also allows the chapter and its members to deepen our investment within the community by hosting numerous resident events. These events include annual turkey giveaways, mentorship programs focusing on adolescent male residents, and partnering with food servicing organizations to provide free, daily weekday lunches for all children up to 18 years of age who reside within the complex.

Theta Omicron Lambda will continue in its efforts and duty to serve the community and uplift future generations.
